shadow-planner's free tier and the €4,99 one-time Pro purchase — what the limits are, how to buy, how to restore your license on a new machine, and how promo codes work.
shadow-planner has two tiers and no subscription. Free includes every feature — Gantt, utilisation, the AI assistant, the planning agent, snapshots, saved filters, import/export, the audit log — within these limits: 1 scenario, 3 projects, 3 resources. Pro is a €4,99 one-time purchase that removes the caps forever. The upgrade unlocks scale, not features.
What happens at the limit
When you're at a cap, the + New button shows a (3/3) badge and creating another scenario, project or resource prompts you to upgrade. Bulk operations (imports, restores, clones) are checked up front and rejected whole — never half-applied.
Two promises hold on every tier:
- Nothing is ever deleted, hidden or locked. If you end up over a limit — say, after a trial ends — everything stays fully visible and editable; you just can't add more.
- Undo is never blocked by tier limits.
Buying Pro
Upgrade from inside the app: checkout opens in your browser via Stripe — one payment, invoice by email, done. There is no account, no renewal and no periodic online check; once activated, the license works fully offline, forever. (If you were on the old €3/month subscription: it was converted to a lifetime license automatically with version 2.0, at no cost.)
Restoring your license on a new machine
Your license can be re-activated on a fresh install without any account:
- Open Settings → License and click "Already bought Pro? Restore your licence."
- Enter the email you purchased with.
- The app shows a 6-digit code on screen (valid 15 minutes) — enter it and your lifetime license is active again.
Only the license roams — your plan data does not. Move data with a JSON export/import, as described in Import & export.
Promo and trial codes
Got a code like LAUNCH30-…? Redeem it via the "Have a promo code?" expander in the license dialog. A trial code unlocks the full feature set for a limited number of days, shown in the header as "Trial — N days left". When it ends, the app simply returns to the free tier — nothing is deleted — and you can upgrade normally. Trial codes are one per install and separate from Stripe discount codes, which apply at checkout.
